Team Technetix Volunteer at Chestnut Tree House
Technetix returned to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice this week to support as volunteers in the facility’s corporate gardening program.
This year, our nine-strong cross-functional volunteer group represented R&D, product management, marketing, and strategic partnerships..

Donning their gloves to tackle a patch of deep overgrowth, the team cleared several dozen wheelbarrow loads of weeds and shifted approximately 15 skip bags of wood chippings .
Responsible for maintaining around three acres of grounds including woods and meadowland, Chestnut Tree House’s gardeners Rob and Nick rely on volunteers to help them stay on top of all the work.
And with new outdoor facilities and improvements to existing plots ongoing across the site, Rob and his colleagues are never short on tasks to delegate.
In typical Technetix fashion, the team rapidly broke the task down into phases; identified a logical order of sequence; calculated realistic operational speeds; and self-organized organically to match strengths to desired outputs. The results? Exceptional performance, intelligent task balancing, optimal delivery, and resilience in outdoor environments…
Providing critical and end of life care to children across Hampshire, East and West Sussex, Chestnut Tree House is a haven of tranquility. Keeping the site’s grounds tip top not only provides a peaceful sensory environment for residents and visitors: it’s essential for accommodating safe and accessible outdoor spaces for children and young people with complex and life limiting conditions.
In addition to supporting the wonderful services that Chestnut Tree House offer the community, the gardening days are a welcome break from the work week norm. They’re also a great opportunity for incidental cross-department idea sharing and team building.
Technetix became a charity partner to Chestnut Tree House in 2010. Read more about our 15-year partnership here.
