Event Review: Connected North 2025

Technetix headed to Manchester on April 23-24 for the region’s leading telecoms event, Connected North. Bringing together government experts, connectivity providers and technology companies, the show attracted representation from around 1,000 organizations, and welcomed 2,500 attendees, 200 speakers, and 200 exhibitors.

Laying the foundations: the build begins in an empty Manchester Central
The team get cracking on the stand’s shell

Front row-ready to meet our industry friends to discuss connectivity and technology innovation in the North of the UK, our reusable stand’s mock living room setup helped visitors envisage our in-home portfolio in more real-world terms.

Our mock in-home structure begins to take shape

Take a seat! Providing a better sense of scale and application, the in-home setup featured a TV, some motivational art on the walls (AKA, glowing customer testimonials!) and even a Scalextric track for curious delegates to have a go on. And yes: that ‘fish tank’ on the pedestal is our IP68-rated remote OLT submerged in water…

Making a stand – quite literally – against waste-intensive disposable tradeshow setups, we were delighted to accept the Better Stands initiative Gold Rating in 2024 for our reusable design. With awareness around sustainability rightly demanding more and more attention, our modular approach helps reduce the tradeshow waste problem without compromising on creativity and freshness.

As for the show itself? Besides the compliments on our stand design, a key takeaway was how it is the region’s local authorities that are actively trying to improve digital inclusivity, exploring smart city and IoT-type solutions.

However, the impressive number of representatives from councils and local governments did not possess the level of knowledge typical of operators and ISPs and are unsure of what they need or how to tackle the problem. It seems there could be an increased demand for consultancy to offer this potential customer segment guidance and support.

In addition to this interesting delegate profile, the team felt that while many companies were open to adopting new technologies, there are reservations around brand switching and moving over to new suppliers.

Our modular stand will be in London for Connected Britain  on September 24-25. Join us at the ExCeL London for  the latest on optimizing your network with our end-to-end fiber solutions.
